About The Position
The position involves providing timely and quality maintenance for the FedEx vehicle fleet and ground support equipment. This includes performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and thorough documentation of all work performed. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with OSHA and DOT standards, thereby ensuring safety and compliance in all operations. The role also requires guiding and supporting a team of technicians and trainees, fostering a collaborative work environment that emphasizes teamwork and skill development. In addition to hands-on maintenance tasks, the technician will utilize FedEx computer systems to document work performed and maintain adequate inventory levels of necessary parts and tools. This documentation is crucial for tracking maintenance history and ensuring that the fleet operates efficiently. The technician will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned, which may vary based on operational needs and priorities. The job requires a high school diploma or GED, with vocational training from an accredited automotive-related vocational school preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of four years of advanced technical repair and maintenance experience with fleet, automotive, or truck vehicles. Experience with welding and basic D.C. electrical troubleshooting is also preferred. Knowledge of the operation and use of various equipment and testing tools associated with the repair of hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid motorized equipment is essential. Proficiency in operating a personal computer is required, along with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
