The Sr Geoscientist is in a small, focused, geotechnical team charged with influencing and executing Murphy's global New Ventures efforts with a focus on the greater Atlantic Margin area. The position requires a self-starter who is comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be proficient in using seismic interpretation and fundamental regional geologic analysis to generate, mature, and recommend new and creative exploration and new access concepts for recommendation. The highest level of technical excellence is required, and the candidate will exemplify good exploration process and will promote technical improvement and excellence across the organization. A firm understanding of geologic models for resource estimation and risk application utilizing statistical software such as RoseRA is required. Additional beneficial skills include demonstrated proficiency in the Petrel and Kingdom interpretation platforms, and other key geological / geophysical interpretation suites (e.g., Paleoscan, Hampton Russell, etc.). While the candidate is expected to work independently and in small teams, broader collaboration across exploration, sub-surface, and business development is required to generate new ideas and deliver timely evaluations. The ideal candidate will present to the highest levels of Murphy Management and to represent Murphy in meetings with external partners and governments. Accordingly, a demonstrated ability to construct a story, document results, develop a concise supporting presentation to clearly support recommendations is imperative. The position is based in our Houston Corporate office but requires frequent international travel. The Sr Geoscientist will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely as the business needs allow.
