The Sr. General Maintenance Worker at Keaki Technologies is responsible for a wide range of maintenance tasks to support government facilities in Maui, Hawaii. This role involves performing both rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, painting, and other repair work to ensure the upkeep of buildings and structures. The position requires responding to emergency situations and performing preventative maintenance on various systems and equipment.

  • Make initial evaluations and obtain proper assistance when confronted with problem situations.
  • Construct, repair, modify, and maintain buildings, parts of buildings, sheds, docks, and temporary structures.
  • Perform light to moderate facility repair work including basic carpentry, plumbing repairs, drywall repairs, painting, and changing light bulbs.
  • Assist in performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities systems such as filter replacement and basic pump repairs.
  • Assist in the completion of facilities-related projects and equipment repairs as required.
  • Respond to all types of emergency situations, including water, electrical, and storm-related issues.
  • Repair or build shelves, crates, benches, furniture, and cabinets.
  • Measure, lay out, or machine cut wood, tile, plastics, and other materials.
  • Install belts, change oil, filters, and make minor adjustments to fans and A/C units as required.
  • Construct forms, batter boards, sub-bases, and screeds for concrete work.
  • Finish concrete masonry and grouting.
  • Repair and patch drywall, finish, and paint as required.
  • Construct and/or maintain signs, monuments, and set-in-place flagpoles.
  • Operate all types of power and hand woodworking tools, paint sprayers, concrete mixers, and forklifts.
  • Be available and able to respond to emergency call-ins when required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Five years of progressive experience in building repair and maintenance or carpentry work.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English.
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Ensuring compliance with company safety regulations.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial safety practices.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in basic plumbing repairs in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in basic electrical repairs in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in basic building maintenance and repairs in an industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in repairing and finishing drywall, painting, and flooring repairs.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing systems and capable of completing minor plumbing repairs.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC related equipment.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and capable of changing ballasts in diverse types of lighting fixtures.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to read and interpret instrumentation, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and communication O&M manuals, prints, and drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local building and safety codes.
