About The Position

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As an FPGA engineer for antenna systems, you will collaborate with systems architects, hardware engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams to bring up and test systems combining FPGA, firmware, RF, and networking functions and build advanced tools for the following: - Lead the design and implementation of complex embedded systems - Design software for high-volume phased array manufacturing - Develop calibration software for on-orbit applications - Characterizing subsystems and systems related to antennas - Complex data storage - Hardware test automation - Firmware design and implementation - Application development - Design automation for 2D and 3D structures - Develop bring up tools and scripts for phased array systems Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with modern ASIC/FPGA design and verification tools
  • Experience in writing test scripts (Python preferred) to validate FPGA images in HW.
  • 5+ years experience in FPGA design and Implementation using System Verilog.
  • Experience with Xilinx/AMD (or Altera) FPGAs.
  • Experience with uArchitecture, RTL coding, FPGA optimization for timing & power, simulation, and validation

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with phased array antennas and/or other complex RF systems
  • Experience with high speed networking, SerDes, 50G/100G Ethernet or Interlaken
  • Familiarity with AXI4 and AXI Streaming interfaces
  • Proven track record of successfully fielding and supporting FPGA and ASIC products

Responsibilities

  • Have ownership of one or more FPGA bitstreams
  • Collaborate with network communication system architects to define and design/implement/test/release/support networking functions targeted to FPGA technology
  • Collaborate with RF and Digital Communications engineers to implement digital logic functions in FPGAs
  • Drive trade-off analysis to benefit the Customer experience
