About The Position

The Fleet Garage Technician is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role involves preparing parts for retests, conducting inspections, managing inventory, and supporting various operational areas. The technician will work closely with logistics, fleet engineering, and maintenance contractors to ensure efficient fleet operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of hands-on automotive maintenance work experience
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy parts and equipment.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in fleet maintenance, inspection, and repair.
  • Knowledge of valve systems, pressure relief devices, and safety regulations.
  • Technical certification in automotive or fleet maintenance.
  • Familiar with high pressure gases
  • Proficient in inventory management and maintenance software (e.g., SAP).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Retest of equipment following established internal procedures.
  • Schedule ISO rebuilds and recertification planning.
  • Oversee chassis inspection vendor, providing support where required.
  • Conduct Fit-for-Fills and Just-in-Time Inspections, including leak checks on incoming bulk fleet and packs.
  • Provide support to other operational areas with valve repairs and assist Fleet Engineering with emerging issues.
  • Perform yard checks and provide the yard jockey with a list of Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks for the on-site maintenance contractor, indicating PM completion in SAP.
  • Support the movement of ISO’s and containers using heavy equipment
  • Manage Trailer and ISO staging area, coordinating with Logistics and Planning to inspect and prepare for Filling and Shipping
  • Perform planned maintenance on Logistics and Garage equipment.
  • Cycle count parts inventoried in the Fleet garage regularly.
  • Prepare parts for MEGC/Tube Trailer retests.
  • Order valves, end plugs, and other necessary parts from EMD to vendors based on the CY retest schedule.
  • Write up the Scope of Work for vendor retests and arrange shipment of parts to the vendor.
