About The Position

The Senior Fleet Manager invests in our Purpose by providing leadership and guidance to support the Technical Operations Department by managing aircraft configuration, performance monitoring, and data-driven decision-making across the fleet. This role will have a heavy emphasis on being able to use Southwest’s data to support long-term fleet strategies, determining effectiveness of program changes, and assisting in determining Technical Operations priorities. The Senior Fleet Manager is a strategic problem solver who is excited about the opportunity to support the airline operation and foster strong relationships at Southwest. Requirements

  • Expertise in data-driven performance management and predictive reliability modeling.
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and lead through influence
  • Thorough knowledge of Part 121 airline maintenance programs
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical manuals, diagrams, and schematic and effectively communicate to varying levels of comprehension
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft systems, FAA regulations, and maintenance programs.
  • Ability to lead others without direct positional authority
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in: Commercial aviation Engineering and/or Maintenance Operations
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Experience in Alteryx, Tableau, Python, etc. (for analysis and automation)
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Boeing 737 systems, configurations, reliability programs, and maintenance planning

Responsibilities

  • Defines and executes fleet reliability and performance strategies aligned with corporate goals.
  • Acts as the senior technical liaison to Executive Leadership, Maintenance Programs, Engineering, Operations, Reliability, and external partners.
  • Evaluates, approves, and oversees implementation of major fleet program changes, ensuring ROI and compliance.
  • Establishes KPIs and benchmarking frameworks against OEM and industry standards; leads initiatives to reduce cost and improve customer experience.
  • Drives adoption of emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance fleet reliability and operational resilience.
  • Delivers high-impact presentations and recommendations to Senior Leadership and external industry committees.
  • Anticipates and mitigates technical risks affecting safety, compliance, and operational continuity.
