BWXT is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst for our Enrichment Operations in Oak Ridge, TN. The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing contract financial performance and will prepare detailed financial reports for management, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a background in finance and/or accounting, knowledge of data visualization programs, and experience in the manufacturing or government contractor industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience.
  • Intermediate level of analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in data visualization tools, specifically Power BI.
  • Demonstrable superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to completing assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company guidelines, SOX, GAAP, and government regulations.
  • Preferred experience with DOD or DOE government accounting, revenue recognition, FAR/DFARS and other government contract compliance.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to report to an assigned work location. This is not a remote opportunity.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and presents regular reports on contract performance, profitability, and financial metrics.
  • Analyzes financial data and trends to provide insights that support strategic initiatives and improve financial performance.
  • Develops and maintains complex financial models to evaluate plant & contract financial performance.
  • Identifies and assesses financial risks and track strategies to mitigate potential impacts on the organization.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including finance & accounting, operations, contracts, and management, to gather data and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Inputs, maintains, and ensures the accuracy of financial and contract data in accounting systems and databases.
  • Conducts ad hoc financial analyses and responds to queries from management regarding contract financial performance. Input, maintain, and ensure the accuracy of financial and contract data in accounting systems and databases.
  • Identifies inefficiencies in financial and contract management processes, proposing and assisting in implementing improvements, as necessary.
  • Provides actionable recommendations based on financial performance and contract analysis to enhance decision-making processes.
  • Assists in internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations related to contracts and associated financial transactions.
  • Assists with other finance & accounting functions, as necessary.
