A Day in the Life As a Senior Finance Program Manager within Operations, you’ll be the finance lead for a designated set of insulin technology, pump, CGM, software programs and owning OPEX, CAPEX, and full-lifecycle business cases from concept through post-launch. Aligned to these high-priority initiatives, you’ll collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to optimize capital allocation, safeguard margins, and ensure every invested dollar delivers maximum value to the business and our patients. This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care. This role requires you to work on-site at our Northridge, CA office at least 3 days per week. This on-site presence is vital for collaboration and maintaining strong team connections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive FP&A / program-finance experience, including ≥ 3 years directly supporting product-development or Operations teams.
  • Or, advanced degree and 5+ years of progressive FP&A / program-finance experience, including ≥ 3 years directly supporting product-development or Operations teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced financial-modeling skills (Excel, Anaplan or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to translate technical and operations details into clear financial insights and influence cross-functional teams up to VP / Board level.
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
  • MBA, PMP, Agile, Lean/Six Sigma, or other equivalent Finance or project-management credentials.
  • Demonstrated ownership of P&L management, program-level budgets (OPEX & CAPEX) and full-lifecycle business cases.
  • Medical-device, biotech, or other regulated hardware / software industry experience.
  • Direct finance support for manufacturing or supply-chain operations (plant‐level cost accounting, standard-cost builds, or transfer-price modeling).
  • Proficiency with SAP, Power BI, and automated dashboarding tools.
  • Hands-on exposure to should-costing, value engineering, or design-to-value initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Program-Level Financial Ownership Own the full financial picture—OPEX, CAPEX, lifetime P&L, NPV/IRR, and unit economics—for each of your programs, with a focus on operational and manufacturing impacts.
  • Build, manage, and analyze program-level business case financials to support operational decision-making, including cost optimization and scaling strategies.
  • Support the annual budget, long-range plan, rolling forecasts and lead risk / opportunity assessments.
  • Track, monitor, and manage product financials, provide real-time variance analysis, and drive corrective-action planning with project managers.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned.
  • Strategic Partnership & Decision Support Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Manufacturing teams to optimize cost structures, safeguard margins, and ensure supply chain efficiency and resilience.
  • Lead cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives, such as should-costing, design-to-value, make-vs-buy, and manufacturing-footprint.
  • Provide financial insights and scenario modeling for key operational decisions, including capacity planning, sourcing strategies, and production scaling.
  • Translate technical milestones and program risks into clear financial insights for executive management reviews and updates.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement process improvements that enhance operational performance and financial outcomes.
  • Governance & Continuous Improvement Ensure adherence to Medtronic accounting policies, SOX requirements, and external audit requests.
  • Conduct post-implementation financial reviews to capture lessons learned and drive operational improvements.
  • Modernize finance processes with digital dashboards, earned-value metrics, and automation tools.
  • Support Operations leadership in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities across manufacturing, sourcing, and supply chain processes.
