Your Role at Cabot: The Sr. Finance Manager is a financial leadership role within our Carbon and Silica Technologies business, responsible for driving financial and operational excellence across global sub-functions. By defining direction for processes and standards, this role has a significant impact on business results and long-term performance. As a key member of the segment's global Finance and Operations leadership team, the Sr. Finance Manager provides financial leadership that shapes and executes plans to deliver profit optimization. This includes leading global operations financial planning and analysis, ensuring accurate and insightful reporting, and serving as the finance lead for strategic operational initiatives such as asset configuration, partnerships, and cost positioning. The role partners closely with senior leadership to translate financial insights into actionable strategies, while proactively identifying risks and opportunities that influence the future direction of the business. Beyond analysis, this position drives innovation in financial governance and operational efficiency, designing and implementing global processes and reporting standards that ensure consistency and compliance across regions. It requires the ability to resolve complex, multi-dimensional issues with broad latitude, influence decisions across the operations team, and champion initiatives that have a lasting impact on Cabot's network. This role is based at the Billerica, MA at the Business and Technology Center and follows the current Flexible Working Arrangement/hybrid model (Monday/Friday remote and Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday in-office). This role reports directly to the Performance Chemicals Segment Finance Vice President with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Business Operations Vice President. Additionally, this role will lead direct reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including managing managers or professional staff in a global or regional context .
  • Manufacturing setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with overseeing forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes for global operations.
  • Experience supporting strategic initiatives such as reorganizations, partnerships, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A).
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with operational, product, and technical leaders to optimize costs, asset utilization, and footprint.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial principles, manufacturing environments, and product costing applications.
  • Deep understanding of global business operations and financial governance.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to translate business theory into applied success.
  • Advanced financial modeling and scenario planning, including DCF/IRR analysis for capital projects and strategic investments.
  • Expert-level Excel and data manipulation skills, including database integration, Power Query, pivot tables, and complex formula development.
  • A bility to design and implement financial reporting processes and tools for global consistency.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills across matrix organizations.
  • Ability to develop new approaches and resolve complex issues with minimal guidance.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for senior leadership audiences.
  • Broad understanding of industry trends and ability to apply commercial insights to drive performance.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and data analytics tools to enhance financial decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage Teams: Provide leadership for finance professionals and/or managers across regions or sub-functions, ensuring effective execution of business plans.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Contribute significantly to strategic planning and operationalize plans for the CST business. Drive initiatives that impact segment performance.
  • Support Strategic Growth Projects: Act as finance lead for asset configuration, partnerships, and cost positioning.
  • Financial Leadership: Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes for global operations. Ensure timely, accurate, and insightful analysis for senior leadership. Act as financial partner of the VP of Operations.
  • Business Case Development: Lead complex financial modeling and investment analysis (DCF/IRR) for major projects. Influence & Decision-Making: Represent finance in decisions with broad impact on business outcomes. Anticipate challenges and develop innovative solutions to complex, multi-dimensional issues.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with operational, product, and technical leaders to optimize costs, asset utilization, and footprint.
  • Governance & Standards: Define and implement financial processes and standards that support global consistency and compliance.
