Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree, two-year technical degree or equivalent military/special electronics training experience strongly preferred.
  • A valid state driver's license required.
  • CCNA Certification (or equivalent) a plus.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in one or more of the following fields: SONET networks and hardware, WDM networks and hardware, Ethernet - 10/100/1000BaseT networks and hardware wireless communications, outside plant fiber optic installations, repair, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Operating variety of telecommunications test equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, electronic theory, fiber optic theory.
  • Ability to safely drive and operate a DOT compliant boom truck, in the public right of way.
  • Ability to work closely with and provide guidance to vendors both on-site and remotely.
  • Ability to analyze and understand PIM/Sweep test data.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Skilled in trouble ticket or work order systems.
  • Exposure to network monitoring systems.
  • Excellent organizational/administrative skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, while managing time for maximum efficiency.
  • DOT Certification.
  • OSHA Certifications.
  • Fiber Optic Experience.
  • PIM or Antenna analyzer certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in a manner to ensure the safety of yourself, your team, your customers and the public.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate a bucket truck.
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedule for nights and weekends.
  • Install, Turn-up, Test and Provision SONET, WDM and Ethernet equipment in an optical fiber network adhering to engineered design.
  • Respond to all network outages, impairments and emergencies related to Crown Castle networks.
  • Perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems / issues while assisting the NOC/customer.
  • Complete all annual preventative maintenance inspections thoroughly and accurately, to Crown Castle standards.
  • Label and tag all equipment and cabling according to Network Engineering Diagrams.
  • Operation and understanding of RF and fiber related test equipment, such as PIM analyzer, Antenna analyzer, RF power meter, Spectrum analyzer, Signal generator, OTDR, Fusion splicer, Optic power meter, DMM, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, BER Test Sets, Sniffers.
  • Operate PC or similar devices to gain access to Crown Castle networks and complete assigned administrative tasks.
  • Perform both hardware and software updates and/or changes to remote site equipment as necessary.
  • Work efficiently and effectively with cross functional departments, peers, and customers.
  • Interface with customers and carriers in support of service delivery and assurance.
  • Work independently for extended periods of time.
  • Respond to Customer Troubles on 24-hour basis.
  • First line acceptance of all new and modified networks using the Network Handoff Process.
