Technician III, Sr. Fiber Optic Splicer

About The Position

TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a skilled Senior Fiber Optic Splicer Technician to join our team in Ft Myers, Florida. Job Summary: The primary responsibilities of the Senior Fiber Optic Splicer will be to fusion splice fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings. This position requires field work, which may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and out-of-normal work hours. Travel will be required and may be up to 50%, depending on the business needs.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Currently have and successfully maintain an active, valid driver’s license.
  • Typically requires 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Must successfully complete required background/drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, successfully complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen when required by project.
  • Must be able to comply with the contract response time requirements for all callouts, including emergency and/or critical repairs.
  • Able and willing to be on call for non-standard business hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Read, create, and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams.
  • Maintain control of outside plant (OSP) activities surrounding the assigned work site(s).
  • Take and maintain accurate splicing and field notes, support project timelines, and inspect, design, and provide accurate records for projects.
  • Manage/assign the daily workload of the fiber optic splicing team.
  • Work independently with minimum supervision.
