Learn more at www. hbfuller.com . The Sr Facility Technical Manager is responsible for managing the quality effort for Fridley. The Facility Technical Manager is the in-plant expert concerning production of the facility’s product line and manages the laboratory staff. This position will ensure that the customer experience and business financial performance are aligned and improved through the reduction of quality incidents and improvement of quality processes across the facility and all functions. The Facility Technical Manager reports to the Fridley site Director and is a member of the site leadership team ensuring quality products are produced with safety and the environment as a value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related degree.
  • Strong competence with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience with quality management systems and “Best Practices.”
  • Experience leading and supervising others, communicating effectively, and solving problems independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Process control experience within the batch manufacturing process
  • 5+ years’ experience in industry, at least 3 years in a Process, Technical or Leadership role
  • Six Sigma certification, (Green or Black Belt), experience in design for Six Sigma DFSS
  • Statistical Process Control experience with proven results implementing and managing continuous improvement systems
  • Knowledge, experience and demonstrated results improving process capability, monitored and controlled via a Capability Index
  • Proven track record of quality program management and quality improvement
  • Prior experience with adhesives

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with and execute productivity, yield, and quality enhancement techniques and adjustments to process equipment and formulations.
  • Troubleshoot quality problems, document and address issues with timely corrective actions.
  • Recommend process and formulation improvements to new and existing products.
  • Assist in process design and development.
  • Batch validation and troubleshooting with R&D Chemist and Production Operators, including batch sheet computations.
  • Oversee management of rework per standard business practices guidelines.
  • Act as the ISO management representative for the facility, leading improvement and management of ISO procedures and work instructions.
  • Support safe manufacturing practices and assist in compliance with all applicable safety and environmental rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Develop, lead, and implement a plant quality assurance plan to reduce COPQ by conducting gap analysis and using tools such as SPC, control charts, Pareto diagrams, and 8D.
  • Lead plant and customer quality problem investigations using analysis tools such as cause mapping and 8D.
  • Collaborate with Sales to understand and address voice of the customer and influence customer perspective with data and analysis.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure manufacturing methods, processes, and performance are compliant and continuously improved.
  • Provide customer service assistance for local sales and technical service as authorized.
  • Ownership of site SAP data management: BOMs, Recipes, Master data, PI sheet, raw materials, and testing requirements.
  • Build and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) for the facility, including synchronization and improvements per standard business practices.
