Overview Synaptics is seeking a Sr. Facilities Technician to oversee and support the operation and maintenance of building systems, including lab environments. The role ensures reliability and performance of critical infrastructure such as HVAC, chillers, boilers, UPS, generators, and life safety systems, requiring strong technical expertise, problem-solving, and leadership coordinating maintenance and vendors. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Global Workplace Services. The typical base pay range for this position is USD $58,000 - $92,400 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity, and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in mechanical, electrical, or facilities engineering or related field, or equivalent; trade certifications such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building engineering are highly desirable
  • 4+ years of experience in facilities operations, maintenance, or engineering; prior experience managing vendor and contracted service provider relationships desired
  • Strong technical knowledge of critical building systems, including HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, Building Automation Systems (BAS), UPS, generators and fire/life safety and utility systems
  • Track record of coordinating work orders, maintenance schedules, and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with CMMS or similar ticketing/maintenance systems
  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the role, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, accessing tight spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • On-site role that requires after-hours-on-call rotation

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA and local building codes, preferred
  • trade certifications such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building engineering are highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, repairs, and improvements of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems, including BAS, HVAC, chillers, boilers, UPS, and generators, as well as fire/life safety and utility system alarms
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance for facility operations and maintenance, including critical lab environments
  • Ensure consistent preventative and predictive maintenance practices to minimize downtime
  • Provide technical support for projects, including equipment installations and facilities improvements
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, company standards, and ISO 14001 audits
  • Manage vendor relationships and performance, including contract oversight, SLA compliance, and coordination of on-site vendor activities
  • Follow and enforce all company safety guidelines, procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing and overseeing facility work
  • Communicate effectively with Sr. Manager and stakeholders on work status, risks and resolutions
  • Open and close work tickets, update maintenance scheduling, and maintain accurate documentation of completed work
  • Support site operations including event setups, MAC (moves, adds, changes), and lighting repair
  • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections
