About The Position

Tri-City Electric Co. is currently seeking a Remote Sr. Electrical Estimator responsible for leading the estimating process for large, complex electrical construction projects. This role ensures the preparation of accurate, timely, and competitive bids while providing leadership, strategic insight, and mentorship to the estimating team. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and business development teams to secure profitable projects and support company growth

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in construction, contracting, or a related industry
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, and industry standards
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience estimating large mission critical projects or data center construction strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the preparation of detailed electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects
  • Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and other project documents to prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Develop and implement bid strategies in coordination with company leadership
  • Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms
  • Review and approve estimates prepared by junior and mid-level estimators
  • Calculate labor, material, and equipment costs for electrical systems and components
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals in line with project requirements
  • Identify potential risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry pricing, labor rates, and construction methods
  • Assist in project handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution
  • Track and update historical cost data to improve accuracy of future estimates
  • Stay informed of electrical codes, standards, and best practices
  • Attend Preconstruction/Kick-Off Meetings
  • Attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of projects
  • Professionally interact with customers, other trades, general contractors, and internal staff
  • Coordinate with other divisions as needed
  • Follow awarded contract(s) as assigned, which may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, etc.
  • Maintain good relationships with customers both internally and externally
