About this Role NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in the Channelview, TX office. This role will support estimating efforts for industrial projects within the Oil & Gas midstream and downstream sectors, with a strong emphasis on mechanical and piping scopes, as well as civil and structural work. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. OR 10 years experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with a strong focus on mechanical/piping scopes
• Proven experience estimating midstream and downstream Oil & Gas projects (terminals, plants, pipelines, facilities)
• Strong working knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers
• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models, preferred
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standards
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoff meetings
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks
