About The Position

As an estimator, your duties and responsibilities will include: Reviewing proposal specifications and drawings and attending pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate. Preparing estimates by calculating various statistical data, such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour and equipment costs, and applying them to the complete scope of work. Reviewing and researching historical data, such as purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., and compiling summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates. Incorporating historical data into unit and man-hour figures. Participating in developing bid package estimate documents. Maintaining files of working documents for backup to estimating figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc. Creating, sending, and managing subcontractor requests for proposal. Reviewing design options and recommending the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials. Following awarded contracts as assigned - this may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, etc. Performing other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college, technical school, or university in Engineering or Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of heavy civil/roadway estimating experience, including removals, grading, concrete structures, aggregate placement, asphalt paving, airport runways, and related scopes of work or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience with estimating software, such as HCCS, Heavy Bid, AGTEK, OST, P6, Excel, or equivalent.
  • A good attitude and the ability to work with and get along with others.
