About The Position

A Sr. Equipment Operator (Concrete Maintenance Program) position is available with The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Streets and Stormwater Operations Division. The department is seeking to hire a Sr. Equipment Operator with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and to join our dedicated team for the critical task of stormwater concrete maintenance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our stormwater infrastructure, ensuring the efficient flow of water, and preventing potential hazards. As a member of the team, the ideal candidate will work four (4) ten-hour work days and will be subject to emergency call-back. Emergency call-back could be after hours, on weekends, on holidays, and/or during weather events. You will be required to work outdoors, during inclement weather, around moving traffic/equipment, in and around water, and overgrown vegetation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years of experience in operation of motorized equipment or construction equipment
  • Possession of a CDL Class A with a Tank Endorsement; Operations of a hydro-mulch vehicle, water truck, and/or vactor as required

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, including operating a dump truck with a trailer, off-road equipment such as skid-steer, walk-behind, mini-excavator, payloader, and backhoe
  • Computer skills, including but not limited to Vueworks, MS Office, and other related work order management systems
  • Supervising crew when needed
  • Drainage system knowledge
  • Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures, including flagging

Responsibilities

  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Equipment operations and manual labor duties as they relate to stormwater maintenance operations
  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment assigned. Perform pre and post trip inspection on equipment.
  • Loading and unloading heavy materials and equipment by hand and with tools/machines
  • Assisting with set-up of traffic control cones and barriers
  • Maintaining paperwork, respond to high priority calls and provide training and instruction to other personnel who operate equipment related to assigned division
  • Operating a variety of motorized equipment such as dump trucks, trailers, backhoes, skid steers, concrete truck, excavators, compactors and front-end loader
  • Using various hand and power tools such as shovels, sledge hammers, concrete placers, screeds, vibrators, demolition hammers and plate compactors
  • Assisting in concrete maintenance related duties
  • Performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to completion of assigned jobs such as operating concrete truck, setting forms, pouring concrete, pipe installation and maintenance, drainage structure installations and repairs, concrete lined channel work, working with and around heavy equipment and confined space
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used
  • Responding to emergency calls during inclement weather such as rain events, flooding, and Ice/Snow events
