About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of environmental air, water and waste compliance reports and data management programs to ensure Vistra facilities and operations are in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations. Proactively work with key operational stakeholders at their location(s), the incumbent supports both compliance and consistency while acting as an advocate for environmental compliance and best practices. Directly supporting the Senior Environmental Manager and working in a matrix organizational structure, this position will provide support for the effective/timely integration and standardization of strategic initiatives and other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience in, environmental compliance, life sciences, geology, electric power generation, engineering or similar field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (i.e., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, etc.)
  • Strong communications and presentation skills—written and verbal. Proficiency with MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to travel as required (up to 40%) to support Vistra’s facilities as assigned.
  • Ability to sequence and prioritize tasks, use sound judgment and to make decisions in the absence of supervision. The incumbent must be self-motivated and able to make and meet commitments and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Must be self-motivated, perform well under pressure, and be able to sequence and prioritize tasks and organize and use resources productively to meet high pressure deadlines on multiple projects.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers and management. Communication may include written and oral technical presentations and periodic updates to peers, management, local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • The ability to sequence and prioritize tasks and to organize and use resources productively to anticipate problems and adjust accordingly.
  • Collaborate with facilities on environmental issues and provide guidance to ensure compliance with permit requirements and interpretation.
  • Support, prepare, and submit appropriate environmental notification, records, and reports including sampling, data input and reviews, Title V, Annual Emission Reports, NSPS, Tier II, TRI, DMRs, GHG, CEMS, EDRS, Stormwater, Deviation Reports, Waste Summaries and Receipts, Chemical Inventories, other quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports pursuant to air, land and water permitting and regulatory requirements, etc.
