About The Position

In this role at the Wilson, NC plant the Sr. Environmental Leader is responsible for assuring ongoing plant compliance with all State and Federal environmental regulations / permits, and corporate guidelines, including air permit; wastewater, storm water, SPCC Management; SWPPP Management; and Hazardous Waste Management, etc. This role will initiate and lead plans to ensure efficient and cost-effective strategies for environmental performance. The successful applicant will possess strong technical knowledge in environmental compliance, and manufacturing plant operations.

Requirements

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Plant-wide disposal activities ranging from routine, known waste streams to accidental spills.
• Understand plant processes and waste streams and devise safe and cost-effective ways for waste collection, recycle, and disposal.
• Have thorough knowledge of waste, chemistry, applicable waste disposal regulations pertaining to air emissions, wastewater discharges, solid waste and hazardous waste collection and transportation.
• Respond to emergency situations such as spills and accidental discharges, calling for coordinating services of emergency, fire, and spill response teams.
• Work in conjunction with various departments to find out about their future production plans and any changes they may decide.
• Management and maintenance of a 250-acre wildlife habitat.
• Schedule and lead activities and events at the habitat, organize work to maintain habitat facilities, and community outreach about facilities available at the habitat.
• Obtain conservation certification for the habitat.
• Ensure uninterrupted function of the departments while ensuring environmental compliance.
