About The Position

Exelon is leading the energy transformation, and we're calling all problem solvers, innovators, community builders and change makers. The primary purpose of this position is to develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for large projects and complex systems involving the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. The role involves performing field engineering and providing designs for both internal and external customers, coordinating and monitoring the electrical requirements of New Business projects to meet customer need dates, and interpreting and applying engineering standards and memos. The position may require extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field and 3 or more years of technical experience, or an associate's degree in a technical field and 5 or more years of technical experience, or 7 or more years of technical experience or relevant education if non-degreed or a non-technical degree.
  • Successful completion of the Technician Occupations Selection Systems (TECH) test, unless exempted by a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
  • Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
  • Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments.
  • Proficient Computer Drawing and Computer Assisted Design skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience in a military role (transmission, distribution, gas, power systems, etc.), project management, journey-level electrician or gas technician, field operations, or other utility related experience.
  • Relevant educational experience includes company sponsored training programs (e.g., PowerUp Academy) or other educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for large projects and complex systems involving the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure.
  • Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos.
  • Assists with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of current design processes and participates on teams.
