About The Position

The Sr Engineer, Systems Architecture at T-Mobile is responsible for developing and evolving enterprise virtualization and platform architectures, specifically across OpenShift Virtualization (OCP Virt), Kubernetes, and VMware environments. This involves creating, adapting, and revising detailed schematics, platform designs, and implementation processes. The role requires interpreting platform performance data, test results, and technology studies to inform design decisions, with success measured by the effectiveness of architecture designs, technical documentation quality, and influence on platform standards and best practices. The position aims to improve organizational technology capabilities and customer service delivery through enhanced virtualization and platform architectures, fostering a culture of innovation, agile methodologies, and transparency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of related work experience OR Advanced degree with 3 years of related experience
  • Acceptable areas of study include Computer Science or Engineering or related field
  • 5+ Years Technical engineering experience
  • Able to communicate goals in support of the business' mission
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure
  • Ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team. Develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships that can provide information, assistance, and support.
  • The ability to ensure that information is passed on to others who should be kept informed. Express self clearly in conversations and interactions with others. Clear business and technical writing skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate concern and meet external and/or internal customers’ needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex virtualization and platform architecture strategies to enhance technology infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation to clearly communicate platform designs, Kubernetes-based virtualization concepts, and operational standards
  • Evaluate and interpret platform metrics, testing outcomes, and workload performance to inform architecture improvements and technology adoption
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop and implement engineering solutions across OpenShift, Kubernetes, and VMware platforms that meet business requirements
  • Contribute to the design and operationalization of OpenShift Virtualization, including VM lifecycle management and platform integration (compute, storage, networking)
  • Mentor and support the development of associate engineers through knowledge sharing and technical guidance
  • Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed
