NextEra Energy’s Power Generation Division is currently seeking a Senior Engineer who can apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to solar power generation. This candidate will need to make decisions independently regarding engineering issues and processes. This position requires supervision only related to high level objective and critical issues. Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to: Support component failure rate analysis and development of work plans Become a subject matter expert in at least one inverter manufacturer Conducting root-cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures at solar sites Providing assistance to field technicians with troubleshooting inverter and other solar issues Support the development of countermeasures for recurring issues Support responses to regulatory bodies for data requests Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have important impact on major company programs Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree in other engineering discipline with equivalent experience with electrical systems
  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • Utility-scale inverter and power electronics experience
  • Bachelor's - Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Experience:5+ years

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering
  • >2 years of experience with solar inverters
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Experience with electrical system modelling software (PSSE, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, etc.

Responsibilities
