The Sr Engineer II, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is a key practitioner within Integra’s Global Supply Chain & Operations organization, responsible for leading high-impact continuous improvement projects that enhance quality, service, cost, throughput, and operational stability across the enterprise. Under direct supervision of the Director, Operational Excellence, this role executes the Lean Six Sigma strategy, applies advanced problem-solving methodologies, and partners directly with site leaders, Supply Chain, Quality, and cross-functional teams to drive measurable operational results. This Black Belt also contributes to capability building by coaching Green Belts, supporting CI training, and modeling the behaviors required to sustain a culture of operational excellence in a regulated life-sciences environment. He/She is a critical part of this role is supporting the implementation and maturation of Daily Management and tiered accountability review processes across global operations. The Black Belt also contributes to capability building by coaching Green Belts, supporting CI training, and modeling the behaviors required to sustain a culture of operational excellence in a regulated life-sciences environment. A critical part of this role is supporting the implementation and maturation of Daily Management and tiered accountability review processes across global operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field.
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in operations, supply chain, engineering, or quality.
  • 1–3 years leading LSS projects with validated results.
  • Experience supporting LSS programs, Daily Management deployment, or problem-solving frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills; foundational statistical capability with developing mastery in advanced methods.
  • Effective communication and facilitation within teams and value streams.
  • Ability to influence without authority in a matrix environment, with growing cross-functional impact.
  • Solid project management discipline.
  • This role requires regular use of tools and equipment relevant to the work environment. Examples include: General office equipment: Computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone communication systems. Additional tools may vary depending on the specific function (e.g., manufacturing, field service, or laboratory work) and will be defined in role-specific documentation.
  • Sit, listen, speak, and move through various areas of the building.
  • Travel across all company locations as needed.
  • Periodically lift and/or move items up to twenty-five pounds.
  • Travel domestically and internationally via car, train, or airplane, as required by the role.
  • Appropriate safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required and provided.

Responsibilities

  • Lead medium to large scope Lean Six Sigma projects across manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, and supporting functions to deliver validated improvements in cost, quality, throughput, and service.
  • Conduct detailed root-cause analyses using DMAIC, statistical tools, process mapping, and structured problem-solving frameworks with periodic guidance from senior LSS leaders.
  • Partner with site and functional leaders to scope improvement opportunities, define project charters, quantify benefits, and manage execution through tollgate reviews.
  • Apply core analytical methods (SPC, basic DOE, regression screening) with developing capability in advanced statistical techniques
  • Support deployment of Lean initiatives within assigned areas, focusing on execution rather than strategic design.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and improvement workshops with co-facilitation support when initiatives involve cross-site impact.
  • Assist in implementing and maturing Daily Management elements (visual controls, performance boards, problem escalation pathways) at the team or value-stream level.
  • Coach Tier 1–2 leaders on huddle effectiveness and KPI ownership, escalating systemic issues appropriately.
  • Develop standard work and visual controls, ensuring sustainment within the immediate scope of responsibility.
  • Mentor Green Belts and project teams on tools and basic statistical methods, while building readiness to coach on more advanced methods.
  • Support delivery of LSS training modules by teaching basics and assisting senior LSS leaders with specialized content.
  • Model continuous improvement behaviors and encourage engagement within assigned business areas
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to resolve operational problems with growing ability to influence beyond immediate teams.
  • Ensure project changes meet key regulatory and quality requirements through partnership with SMEs, escalating for expert review when needed.
  • Partner with Finance to track and validate benefits, focusing on project-level validation rather than broader portfolio stewardship.
  • Develop project metrics, dashboards, and control plans to ensure sustainability of improvements within the project’s scope.
  • Report progress, risks, and outcomes to project sponsors and LSS leadership with increasing independence.
  • Contribute observations to site maturity assessments, focusing on assigned functional areas.
