About The Position

The Electronic Communications Specialist is responsible for all aspects of electronic communication mediums including E-mail systems, Instant Messaging systems, and message routing. Other responsibilities for this role are to manage and support a hybrid Microsoft infrastructure. Candidate should possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and O365 services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Exchange experience required.
  • Active Directory/Entra and O365 Management.
  • Advanced understanding of SMTP, X400, X500, SIP, DNS, WINS required.
  • Multi-platform operating systems experience required - advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows platform and basic knowledge of Linux required.
  • General network administration skills.
  • Advanced understanding of Virtualization technologies.
  • Intermediate understanding of network security protocols.
  • Powershell Scripting
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to determine the appropriate action.
  • Process management skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with the ability to learn and utilize industry specific software as required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated reliability in attendance and work performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry acknowledged certification strongly preferred MCSE/MCSA/RHCE.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the enterprise Microsoft Exchange environment and supporting email security systems.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra and on-premise Active Directory components.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a hybrid Microsoft Azure environment to manage user accounts and groups, group policy objects, permissions, synchronization, reporting and licensing.
  • Ensure proper change management procedures are followed regarding the installation and testing of all upgrades and enhancements for email & IM systems.
  • Maintain best practices, troubleshoot problems and take corrective action on a timely and effective basis.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external users.
  • Stay updated with the latest O365 and Azure functionality.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Highly motivated and requires little assistance to perform duties.
  • Serve as a mentor to Level I support staff.
  • Monitor systems for optimal operation and performance.
  • Respond to events and resolve issues.
  • Escalates to management after developing a detailed description of issues including, but not limited to known failure points and a hypothesis for root cause.
  • Solve issues in an independent, collaborative manner utilizing available resources in-house and vendor provided.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
