About The Position

Tesla’s keystone FSD feature is enabled by our bleeding edge silicon and system products that convert pure vision input into a functional decision matrix. As a Senior engineer at the Compute HW Validation team, you will be responsible for validating the performance, stability, and reliability of these Autopilot and Infotainment systems used in Tesla’s vehicles. You will bring multi-disciplinary insight to guide HW, SW and FW feature development, leading to safer and more scalable features to our customers.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Python, C/C++, and Linux
  • 5+ years experience working with complex electronics systems in the consumer or computer industry in a system integration or validation capacity
  • Working knowledge in some or all of the typical EE domains such as PCIe, Post Silicon, Power, thermals, HW optimization etc.
  • Experience solving hardware optimization problems balancing power, thermals, perf and reliability parameters
  • Excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals, and experience with standard lab equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, o-scopes, DMMs etc.)
  • Comfort with managing competing priorities, complex timelines and resource limitations

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop detailed life cycle validation plans for Tesla’s Autopilot HW product line up, starting from system bring up to aging simulations
  • Lead a team of junior engineers and technicians in solving complex problems sets and deliver findings to Exec level visibility
  • Develop test programs to stress and measure KPIs relating to system power and performance, study stability over the lifetime of electronics products
  • Work together with Design engineers, reliability scientists, material scientists, quality, and service to identify failure modes, generate design validation and reliability test plans to isolate these effects
  • Perform component-level, system-level validation and reliability tests, simulating both realistic and accelerated use cases, to authenticate product viability leading to mass production
  • Identify and execute experiments targeting new technologies for critical failures impacting novel use cases
