About the position

Manage team of Environmental Health & Safety (“EHS”) professionals to ensure all manufacturing sites are compliant, are hitting EHS targets aligned centrally. Serve as subject matter expert regarding the interpretation of federal, state, and local EHS regulations. Aligns corporate and local EHS goals and strategies. Lead, develop and manage EHS staff members at manufacturing locations. Lead the Life Safety program and practices. Ensure compliance for federal and state regulations regarding transportation, DOT compliance, Crash Management processes including reporting, investigation, and documentation. Manage compliance with all environmental laws, standards, and regulations, including existing and pending site permits (CAA, NPDES, Local Ordinances, etc.) by working with facilities and Department of Environment Health and Safety. Review and implement compliance practices for new and upcoming regulations for applicability and effect on the facility. Manage Federal, State, and Local agency inspections. Prepare and submit permit modifications as needed. Direct and assign compliance projects as needed. Develop all reports required by permits including SARA 312, SARA 313, CAA, CWA, RCRA, and Local Ordinances. Develop routine and non-routine correspondence to Federal, State, and Local Environmental Agencies. Ensure all waste generated from the facility is packaged, handled, transported, disposed of, and tracked in a manner that meets and/or exceeds Federal, State, and Local regulations. Manage security program including monitoring and delegating assignments as appropriate. Develop and manage security throughout the facilities. Oversee employee-training programs regarding EHS-approved behaviors and general compliance. Ensure the Employee Return to Work Program is in adherence to policy and has proper documentation. Direct preparation for Annual GRMS Audit assigning responsibilities as needed. Participate in the setting of clear expectations and direction for the EHS Department, specifically in terms of industrial hygiene and security initiatives and goals. Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to correspond and work with local, state and federal agencies as well as applicable community groups to develop positive relationships. Comply with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin). Up to 10% domestic and international travel required. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to 948 Meridian Lake Dr, Aurora, Illinois 60504. Salary: $119,000 to $140,000 per year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or U.S. equivalent in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of professional experience as Engineering Manager, Safety Manager, or in a related field involving Environmental, safety, sustainability or security regulatory.
  • 5 years of experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting Federal, state and local regulations.
  • 5 years of experience presenting business topics to top management.
  • 5 years of experience utilizing lean manufacturing problem solving skills.
  • 5 years of experience prioritizing tasks and handling multiple projects.
  • 5 years of experience applying advanced mathematical concepts.
  • 5 years of experience complying with EHS safety policies and procedures.
  • 4 years of experience interpreting industrial hygiene testing in a plant environment.
  • 4 years of experience communicating complex testing procedures.
