About The Position

The Senior Manager - Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) serves as a strategic leader, driving a culture of continuous improvement through risk reduction and safe behaviors. This role provides oversight and direction for all Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company standards while promoting employee health, wellness, and environmental sustainability. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing risk-based analyses, designing comprehensive training strategies, and advancing best-practice safety and environmental programs. The position is accountable for delivering measurable safety performance improvements through proactive initiatives, employee engagement, and education.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is required.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in environmental and safety management within a CPG industry or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate 5+ years of specialized expertise in ergonomics and case management—helping create safer, healthier workplaces.
  • Possess deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations, as well as management systems like ISO 14001 and advanced Safety Management Systems.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement principles, driving innovation and operational excellence.

  • 10+ years of previous EHS experience within food manufacturing
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM), Ergonomics Certification, or OSHA 30-hour Certification are strongly preferred—showcasing your dedication to being a leader in safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement EHS strategies aligned with corporate objectives to mitigate operational risk and drive continuous improvement.
  • Performance Management: Utilize key metrics to monitor and enhance EHS performance at the factory level.
  • Occupational Health Oversight: Serve as the lead professional for occupational health and case management, ensuring effective processes and compliance.
  • Communication & Reporting: Communicate EHS performance results across all organizational levels and represent the site at annual conferences, quarterly webcasts, and regional meetings.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison with Campbell’s Legal and Communications teams regarding incidents that may impact brand integrity.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with applicable EHS legislation and industry best practices; ensure site adherence to Campbell’s policies, procedures, and operating principles.
  • Financial Stewardship: Develop and manage the EHS departmental budget effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement new policies, procedures, and best practices; integrate continuous improvement principles into EHS programs.
  • Training & Development: Oversee site training programs using Alchemy; provide education to staff and employees to reinforce their role in achieving EHS objectives.
  • Management Systems: Implement Campbell’s EHS Management Systems and best practices to ensure compliance and operational excellence (C-WOW).
  • Risk Management: Develop and execute facility EHS business plans, including actionable items for process improvement.
  • Workers’ Compensation: Facilitate the Workers’ Compensation process with diligence and accuracy.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Lead initiatives related to sustainability and social responsibility within the EHS scope.
  • Operational Oversight: Direct and coordinate EHS control activities, including staffing, scheduling, and planning.
  • Regulatory Representation: Coordinate and attend hearings on EHS matters as required.
  • Compliance Tools: Develop and maintain processes and tools to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Performance Delivery: Meet corporate deadlines and targets while driving optimal EHS performance results.
