About The Position

Under minimal supervision, The Sr. EHS Specialist will be accountable for supporting the development of a flexible inventory of drill ready permits, reduction in sundry efforts, compliance with agency rules, and fostering agency relationships under the new Colorado rules. This position works closely with engineering and operations personnel to ensure compliance with State, Federal and local regulations and internal policies, procedures and practices in our operated assets.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of well drilling and location permitting processes in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards applicable to Oil & Gas operations.
  • Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal laws and agencies.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple permits concurrently.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Adaptability and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Competent in skill and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • HS diploma or GED is required
  • 5+ years of experience in well drilling and location permitting within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of permitting experience in Colorado within the past 3 years.
  • Minimum of 6 years of oil and experience including

  • BS degree in Environment, Health, and Safety field, chemistry, engineering or related science is Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting the OGDP and CAP permitting processes for future inventory
  • Ensure plans comply with all regulations – ECMC, local, federal, etc. Continue to push win-win alternatives/ideas to meet regulatory requirements/needs
  • Ensure well and location permits are submitted in an accurate and complete manner, tracked, and followed through to final approval (local/BLM/ECMC/USFS/et al). Adjust/sundry permits where necessary
  • Support the local, state, and federal permitting efforts and compliance
  • Prepare ECMC forms, permits, and reporting
  • Coordinate with internal and agency staff to foster permit approval
  • Develop permitting schedules, expectations, and metrics for internal planning purposes
  • Prepare and file agency paperwork, including but not limited to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Represent Civitas at hearings, public meetings, or agency inspections
  • Interface with community leaders
  • Directly support engineering and operations personnel to ensure compliance with State, Federal and local regulations and internal policies, procedures and practices in our operated assets
  • Obtain, interpret and communicate environmental, health and safety regulations and stay appraised of new laws and regulations and their impact on our oil and gas operations
