About The Position

Adventist Health Selma, located in the central San Joaquin Valley, has been serving the Central Valley since 1999. It comprises a 57-bed acute care hospital and six local medical offices. Selma is a rapidly growing city with nearly 25,000 residents, offering a great cost of living and close-knit communities, along with shopping, dining, museums, historic sites, and churches in a family-friendly atmosphere. The Sr. ED Technician assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and MD/Provider with assessments, examinations, and treatments. This role involves performing a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), functioning as a Unit Secretary, assisting in the daily operations of the department, and acting as a triage technician.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT) or Paramedic (PM)
  • Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPTII)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
  • Two years' technical experience
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification
  • Phlebotomist Technician license

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
  • Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
  • Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
  • Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
  • Provides patient and family education and mentors and trains staff on technical skills within scope of practice.
  • Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care.
  • Records and collects specimens.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
