About The Position

The Sr. Echocardiographic Technician (Per Diem) position at UCLA involves performing various echocardiographic studies under the supervision of Cardiac Imaging Physicians. The role includes preparing preliminary interpretations of echo studies, maintaining records, and ensuring effective communication with medical staff. This position supports both Burbank and Encino locations, contributing to patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of Cardiac Echocardiography Technology Program.
• Registered in The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
• Ability to apply ultrasound techniques in clinical evaluations.
• Ability to push a 500+ lb. echo machine for distances up to 100 feet.
• Skill to manipulate transducer and controls on the echo machine.
• Proficiency in using PC and word processing software for reports.
• Ability to make preliminary evaluations of echo studies.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients and staff.
• Ability to read and follow physician orders and instructions.
• Ability to deliver basic cardiac life support (BCLS).
• Ability to obtain ARDMS or CCI registration in adult cardiac echocardiography within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform 2-dimensional echoes, M-mode, and Doppler studies.
• Notify Cardiac Imaging Physicians of any urgent and/or Pre-Operative Echo Readings.
• Prepare preliminary interpretations of echo studies.
• Maintain records pertinent to echo studies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Cardiac Imaging Physicians and Manager.
