As our Sr. Distribution Designer, you will be responsible for the overall supervision of projects assigned and able to assure that the project is competently designed on time and on budget. In this role you will actively participate in obtaining work and maintaining client relationships.Senior Designers may be asked to serve as Project Manager for specific technical projects. Designers are part of project teams working on electric projects such as power line undergrounding and overhead system hardening to prevent fire in high fire threat districts and other distribution line projects. Requirements

12+ years of AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
Associate's Degree in Engineering, Architectural or Design Technologies, Mechanical or Electrical Technology or relevant field, or equivalent training and experience.
At least 7 years of experience in the design of electric distribution projects in both overhead and underground configurations.
Must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of both OH and UG construction, poles, conduits, substructures, cable and wire types, and connections.

Nice To Haves

Background as an electrical designer or planner with SDG&E or other comparable large electric utility. (Preferred).
Some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. (Preferred).
Experience with PLS-CADD or O-Calc overhead design software is strongly preferred for electric distribution roles

Responsibilities

Use computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, CADWorx, MicroStation, AutoCAD Inventor, Bentley Substation, and Solidworks, as well as technical handbooks, utilitystandards, tables, and calculators to create relevant drawings and 3D models of facilities.
Make major design recommendations as part of a project team, and participate in client presentations.
Divide and assign work to project team's designers that report to incumbent.
Assign duties and schedules to team members, responsible for all phases of a project.
Organize and maintain project files.
Produce sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks such as layout of mechanical or electrical equipment rooms.
Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents.
Develop details as required for a specific project.
Edit master specification sections to be project specific.
Assist in development of technical competence of project team members.
Attend construction progress meetings to solve non-routine technical issues and producereports.
Manage and maintain design records and files & complete as-built drawings.
Work in conjunction with PM to assist with schedule and financial management.
Responsible for maintaining QA/QC of projects.
Manage the applicable drafting and design resources within a given project.
Minimal travel to client sites as needed (expected to be no more than 10% of time).
Prepare technical papers for submittal to regional/national publications.
May serve as a field engineer during constructio
