This position is responsible for executing a daily plan for movement of all freight within an assigned area. The role involves managing the daily delivery schedule for drivers, leading and mentoring dispatching staff, and providing frontline customer service for existing accounts. The dispatcher will also be responsible for assessing customer needs and timing of deliveries, answering all incoming phone calls promptly and courteously, monitoring e-mail and communication between team members, and monitoring web portals. Additionally, the dispatcher will solicit freight from customers, create loads in the dispatch system, and divide dispatch responsibilities with other team members.
