We are currently seeking a Senior Director of Total Rewards to join our team and report directly to the VP of Talent, Culture, and Total Rewards. In this role, you will work closely with our HR organization and senior business leaders to create effective compensation and benefits strategies and design and implement comprehensive total rewards programs that align with Blue Origin's mission, company goals and competitive practices to attract and retain top talent. You will leverage data and insights from employees, managers and industry practices to inform the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness and competitiveness of our Total Rewards programs. You will design creative solutions for driving employee awareness and understanding of all compensation and benefits programs. You will be responsible for ensuring that company Total Rewards programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. This role will work onsite in our HR offices in Renton, WA.

  • Lead and develop a team of total rewards professionals, fostering a mission-focused, collaborative, positive, and high-performing environment.
  • Design and implement the overall Total Rewards strategy, including compensation and benefits programs, ensuring alignment with company goals and financial targets.
  • Oversee the design implementation and administration of compensation structures, incentive plans, and benefit programs and perks.
  • Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to stay ahead of talent trends and evolve our programs to remain competitive and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Ensure all total rewards programs comply with relevant international, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage external vendor relationships for benefits administration and market benchmarking and research.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to inform employees about their total rewards packages, any changes to programs, and drive employee engagement.
  • Utilize data analytics to assess the effectiveness of total rewards programs, identify areas for improvement, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Finance, and senior leadership to ensure alignment and integration of Total Rewards programs.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to senior leadership on compensation trends, regulatory updates, and best practices.
  • Lead efforts related to Mergers & Acquisitions, focusing on the integration of pay practices and benefit programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Compensation, Benefits, Human Resources or Finance or an equivalency
  • Minimum of 10 years' leadership experience in HR, managing Compensation and Benefits teams at the enterprise level
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team management skills with a proven ability to grow and develop others
  • The ability to think strategically and align total rewards programs with business objectives is important
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership teams
  • Deep expertise in compensation strategy, executive compensation, incentive design, and regulatory compliance (international, federal, state, and local)
  • Expertise in program design, change management, communication, and implementation
  • Industry experience with both exempt and nonexempt workforces
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a process improvement mentality and the ability to use data to drive decisions
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing demands
  • Consultative approach with the business and key partners
  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience working in a complex, global organization
  • PMP or SHRM certifications
  • Experience with rewards programs spanning multiple industries (manufacturing, technology, services, etc.)
