About The Position

The Senior Director, Studio Creative Innovation will lead the transformation of Macy's in-house photo and video studio into a cutting-edge, future-ready storytelling hub. This role reimagines a legacy content engine by integrating AI-enabled workflows, experiential storytelling, and high-impact brand visuals meet operational excellence. More than a leadership position, this is a creative reinvention mandate. The Senior Director brings bold vision, cultural fluency, and the ability to translate creative energy into measurable business impact across e-commerce, social, editorial, and marketing channels.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale creative reinvention by transforming legacy studio systems into agile, tech-forward, innovation hubs.
  • Deep expertise in developing emotionally resonant, culturally relevant content across e-commerce, social, editorial, and experiential channels.
  • Strong fashion and beauty sensibility, with a clear understanding of casting, styling, and photography direction that elevates brand identity.
  • Familiarity with AI, CGI, real-time content capture, and automation tools to streamline production and future-proof workflows.
  • Experienced in leading end-to-end photography and video production across campaign, still life, on-figure, social, and experiential content formats.
  • Skilled in redesigning systems and processes to drive speed, scale, and efficiency within a complex production environment.
  • Capable of managing resources, budgets, and vendor partnerships with a startup mindset and focus on agility and cost optimization.
  • Trusted partner to senior leaders across brand, digital, creative, and merchandising with the ability to build alignment and drive shared outcomes.
  • Inspires and mentors a high-performing creative team while fostering a studio culture centered on experimentation, inclusion, and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Reimagine the creative studio as an innovation lab that blends speed, scale, and storytelling.
  • Define a bold, modern vision for how content is captured, created, edited, and distributed across all customer touchpoints.
  • Integrate emerging technologies - including AI, CGI, real-time content capture, and automation - to streamline workflows and future-proof production capabilities.
  • Lead end-to-end production for photography and video—from concept through post-production—across still life, on-figure, campaign, social, and experiential content.
  • Set and uphold a high creative standard to ensure all content is emotionally resonant, culturally relevant, and visually magnetic.
  • Collaborate with brand creative, marketing, and merchandising teams to translate seasonal narratives, trend stories, and key launches into compelling visual storytelling.
  • Define and elevate the creative vision for Fashion and Beauty photography, casting, and styling.
  • Ensure that all on-set production and final executions reflect a distinctive, high-impact aesthetic that positions Macy’s and its Private Brands as fashion leaders.
  • Redesign studio systems, processes, and workflows to enable a nimble, efficient, and scalable content production ecosystem.
  • Build flexible production models that balance in-house and external capabilities, with a focus on agility and cost optimization.
  • Oversee studio resourcing, budgeting, vendor relationships, and technology implementation with a startup mindset.
  • Serve as a trusted creative partner to executives and stakeholders across brand, digital, creative, and merchandising teams.
  • Inspire, mentor, and mobilize a high-performing team spanning art direction, styling, production, editing, and post-production.
  • Foster a studio culture grounded in experimentation, inclusivity, and bold creativity.
  • Unlock new business opportunities by exploring monetization strategies, brand partnerships, and co-branded productions.
  • Position the studio as a strategic, revenue-generating asset that drives not only marketing outcomes but cultural relevance for the Macy’s brand.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
