About The Position

The Sr Director, Strategic Initiatives at Transamerica is responsible for developing materials that support company-wide strategic initiatives, relying on strong financial analysis and cross-functional coordination. This role is tailored for both internal and external stakeholders, including boards and investors. The position requires executing action plans in support of strategic initiatives or special projects, leading confidential and complex projects across multiple executive stakeholder groups, and coordinating corporate governance processes. The individual will work across functions and business units to create and align business plans and presentations, ensuring they are data-driven and reflect investment targets. The role also involves providing communication and updates to various stakeholder groups, supporting the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) with analysis and recommendations, and acting as a visible leader in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to support employee culture and community events.

Requirements

  • Experience in the insurance/financial services industry required.
  • Project management experience leading complex, cross-functional/cross-business unit initiatives.
  • Deep experience in finance including producing, analyzing, and reviewing financially focused presentations.
  • Experience working with executive stakeholder groups, boards, governance committees, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
  • Executive presence, articulate, and ability to maintain diplomacy and build relationships.
  • Strategic thinker who uses analytical skills and data to drive decision making.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High achiever demonstrating ownership and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Execute action plans in support of strategic initiatives or special projects as assigned.
  • Lead execution of corporate governance processes, including coordination with corporate secretarial and Aegon Board Office staff.
  • Work across functions and business units to create and align business plans and presentations for strategic initiatives.
  • Provide communication, coordination, and updates to various stakeholder groups supporting initiatives.
  • Work with executives and leadership to align priorities, actions, and communications in support of organizational goals.
  • Support CAO with analysis and recommendations on projects as assigned.
  • Act as a visible leader in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, supporting employee culture and volunteerism.
  • Perform routine duties within the CAO office such as producing budgets and reviewing expense reports.
