About the position

The Senior Director of Sales - Northeast manages a regional team of District Sales Managers (DSM) and field sales reps. This role is responsible for achieving revenue, growth, and share gain targets through sales and marketing partnership and detailed execution. The position involves developing and implementing a strategy that leads to increased customer value creation and market share gain within the designated geography. The Senior Director will partner with peer sales leaders and divisional and group functions such as supply chain, sales operations, marketing, portfolio, and customer service to drive improved processes that enable the sales team. Additionally, the role includes developing sales teams by improving individual selling capability (SFE), broadening technical competence, and improving leadership capability. The Senior Director will advocate for the customer, ensuring product quality and compliance while providing excellence in customer solutions. Leading the activities of the team, setting goals, developing and assessing activity and sales metrics to meet daring objectives is also a key responsibility. The position requires engagement with local and regional resources to enable the realization of Divisional and Group Goals, developing pricing policies in partnership with Commercial Operations, and providing input on market trends and customer feature/product requests for new product development. The Senior Director will also develop, implement, and share standard methodologies across the region with other divisions within Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve revenue, growth and share gain targets through sales and marketing partnership and detailed execution
  • Develop and implement a strategy that leads to increased customer value creation and market share gain within the designated geography
  • Partner with peer sales leaders and divisional and group functions such as supply chain, sales operations, marketing, portfolio, and customer service to drive improved processes that enable the sales team
  • Develop sales teams by improving individual selling capability (SFE), broadening technical competence, and improving leadership capability
  • Advocate for the customer, ensuring product quality and compliance while providing excellence in customer solutions
  • Lead the activities of the team, setting goals, developing and assessing activity and sales metrics to meet daring objectives
  • Engage with local and regional resources to enable the realization of Divisional and Group Goals
  • Develop pricing policies in partnership with Commercial Operations, including volume discounts and terms and conditions for high-profile customers and partners
  • Provide input on market trends and customer feature/product requests for new product development
  • Develop, implement, and share standard methodologies across the region with other divisions within Thermo Fisher Scientific

Requirements

  • B.S. or equivalent experience in a Scientific Field or Business required
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in a complex, dynamic, commercial environment operating across the Americas region
  • Clinical diagnostics experience required
  • Experience in leading and integrating geography/segment/channel/competitor to develop strategy
  • Lead, recruit, and develop sales teams for dedication and individual selling capability improvement
  • Proficient in technical skills related to planning and sales strategies
  • Required to be located within the Northeast region
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Outstanding collaboration skills, effectively working with peers in other functions and colleagues in other businesses or divisions, particularly matrixed sales organizations, Operations, and R D
