About The Position

Medline Industries is seeking a Senior Director of Operations to lead our distribution center in McDonough, GA. This high-visibility site spans 1.2 million square feet and is in a critical turnaround phase, drawing strong engagement from senior leadership. The facility is highly automated, utilizing AutoStore, conveyors, and sorters, and serves as a cornerstone for Medline's growth—supporting high-volume distribution, less-than-truckload, and full-truckload shipping. This role requires a dynamic, process-focused leader who thrives in a high-stress, fast-paced environment and who embodies Medline's core leadership values. The Senior Director will serve as a key partner to our sales organization and healthcare customers, ensuring operational excellence while building trust and delivering world-class service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience in a distribution center environment.
  • 5+ years as a Director of Operations, with proven ability to lead large, complex sites.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume automated operations (AutoStore, conveyors, sorters strongly preferred).
  • Strong customer-facing experience; healthcare industry background preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in sourcing, selecting, and developing managers, supervisors, and associates.
  • Process-focused, data-driven decision maker with strong business planning capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead through high-visibility, high-stress situations with resilience and calm.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner across operations, sales, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of distribution center operations, with responsibility for order fulfillment, production, inventory control, safety, compliance, and process efficiency.
  • Drive turnaround strategies to optimize performance, enhance automation utilization, and support rapid business growth.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of capital resources and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Partner with sales leadership and customer-facing teams to support contract negotiations, resolve service failures, and strengthen client relationships.
  • Visit key accounts and represent the distribution center in customer meetings.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a diverse team of managers and associates, instilling Medline's values of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee staffing, training, performance management, and succession planning to ensure the facility is staffed with the right competencies.
  • Build and maintain employee morale through open communication, recognition, and a strong culture of safety and engagement.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship for additional Medline branches or enterprise projects, offering guidance and intervention as needed to ensure consistency and compliance across the network.
