About The Position

The Sr. Director of Product and Solutions at UnitedHealth Group is responsible for developing Third Party Administrator (TPA) solutions tailored for federal government customers. This role leverages the assets of the OptumServe business and the broader UnitedHealth Group enterprise to meet the specific needs of agencies such as the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Department of Health and Human Services. The position requires a deep understanding of federal customer needs, operational processes, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive solutions that comply with contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the healthcare industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in a product development, solution sales, or operational delivery role in a TPA or Health Insurance Plan.

  • Experience using data and research to formulate strategic business recommendations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading development of federal health services or health IT solutions with a total contract value (TCV) of at least $25M.
  • Understanding of Department of Defense (DOD), Veterans Administration (VA), and Health and Human Services (HHS) markets.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with urgency to drive work forward.
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to changes in work direction and pivot work accordingly.

  • Proven team player with solid ability to form working professional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Connect a deep understanding of federal customer needs with OptumServe's business assets to develop comprehensive TPA solutions.
  • Lead teams of matrix partners to translate required capabilities into operational processes that meet federal contract requirements.
  • Follow Optum Serve's Business Development Life Cycle to ensure timely delivery of inputs and deliverables for solution development.
  • Lead the solution team for assigned pursuits to develop comprehensive solution documentation.
  • Design and implement new business processes/solutions that streamline operations and enhance productivity while ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Assess potential risks and vulnerabilities in solutions and develop mitigation strategies.
