About The Position

The Sr. Director of HPC Hardware Engineering at Penguin Solutions is responsible for leading the HPC and AI Engineering team, which designs and delivers high-performance computing solutions tailored to customer needs. This role involves managing partnerships with hardware OEM and ODM partners, overseeing product development, and ensuring the delivery of customized and repeatable solutions. The position requires a strong focus on engineering processes and collaboration with various stakeholders to drive innovation in the field of HPC and AI.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong hardware expertise in HPC, AI, and high-performance Storage technology.
• 7+ years of Engineering Management experience.
• Experience leading product development in HPC and AI infrastructure technology.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment reacting to changing customer needs.
• Experience in developing and optimizing engineering processes.
• Familiarity with Data center infrastructure, including power and cooling.
• Strong communications skills and executive presence.

Responsibilities

• Defining and running a rigorous hardware engineering process to deliver high quality customized and repeatable solutions.
• Managing the technical relationship with hardware OEM and ODM partners, including driving requirements, qualification, and managing SOWs.
• Tracking and resolving any quality issues or product defects with partners.
• Collaborating with the CTO and product management to select key industry partners and solutions for the technology roadmap.
• Working with product management to define and deliver the required Server, Storage, and Networking components.
• Selecting and managing partnerships with 3rd party software vendors, including Software-defined Storage vendors.
• Optimizing the delivery process to maximize reuse while maintaining leadership in customized solutions.
• Staffing and delivering the technical aspects of customer POCs that require new capabilities.
