Primary Function of Position: The role of the Senior Director, Health Policy, Implementation Science and Patent Access Research is to serve as the executive leader for the Health Policy and Patient Access Research (HPPAR) Center of Excellence (COE) within the Global Access Value and Economics (GAVE) organization at Intuitive. As a member of GAVE Leadership team, this role will manage and provide leadership oversight to the COE and three key supporting functions (Health Policy Analysis and Synthesis, Health Policy Implementation Science and Patient Access Research) within the center. This leader will work cross-functionally with Global Public Affairs, Marketing, Sales and Business Unit Leadership, Corporate Strategy, along with teaming with other GAVE COE's and region/country leads to execute the strategies and tactics within operating plans. This individual will be responsible for programmatic development and operating plan execution of the COE. This includes conceptualization, design and execution of programs and initiatives with objectives to inform and enrich policy development and implementation science efforts in support of specific outlined goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics of the COE. This will involve macro healthcare and public health trends and implications globally/nationally; health policy development through partnerships, synthesis, and briefs; stakeholder engagement and community need's assessments; program design and implementation practice pilots; and continuous improvement through planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated project management skills; achieving goals and motivating others.
  • Knowledge of implementation science theories, models, and frameworks (e.g., CFIR, RE-AIM)
  • Collaborative relationship manager for both internal and external customers, providing clear and open communication with key stakeholders to align expectations.
  • Effective management and development of people, including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, compensation, and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with proven ability to collaborate and facilitate across multiple disciplines to drive for results.
  • Self-starter, capable of significant autonomy, can create structure within ambiguity.
  • Result-oriented, self-confident, and able to react quickly under pressure.
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating decision-making with executive leaders.
  • Annual budget planning, development, and operation execution to set targets.
  • A bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field and +20 years' experience, or a master's/doctorate degree in a healthcare related field (health administration, health policy or public health) with 10-12 years' experience in health policy analysis, policy synthesis and development, implementation sciences, patient access research, and qualitative research designs.
  • Experience developing and leading teams in a highly matrix and collaborative environment.
  • Strong presentation skills to senior leaders.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration and dissemination of deliverables to the sales organization through partnership with sales leaders.
  • Proven track record as a top performer within teams and influencing change/adoption with targeted individuals and teams. Experience working across diverse marketplaces and in an evolving healthcare environment.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented, diverse cross-functional matrix organization that focuses on a high degree of teaming, with internal and external partners globally, yet balanced with self-directed independent effort.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to travel at least 30% of time, including global travel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and successful execution of COE goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics.
  • Facilitate strategic planning for COE workstreams, ensuring alignment to key milestones (conferences, publications, marketing, messaging, etc.).
  • Lead internal and external awareness of the COE with key stakeholders across Intuitive and establish the COE as the "voice" for Intuitive health equity related activities.
  • Lead and support research activities focused on the adoption, integration, and sustainability of evidence-based practices and interventions.
  • Provide consultation and training on implementation strategies to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Stay current with recent advances in implementation science and incorporate best practices into projects.
  • Mentor junior staff in implementation research methods and pilots.
  • Lead patient access researchers on prioritized studies to meet goals and objectives, while promoting adherence to quality and ethical research methods.
  • Research and provide oversight to the exploration and procurement of data assets required for short and long-term research efforts based on prioritized studies.
  • Facilitate research partnerships; identify external organizations with complementary research interests, establish vision and desired outcomes through a formal agreement.
  • Pilot demonstration projects through partnerships with external parties to support initiatives to close the gap on identified inequities related to Intuitive technologies through implementation science to ensure maximum value to Intuitive P6 stakeholders.
