About The Position

The Senior Director, Head of Credit Card Risk at PayPal is responsible for leading all aspects of credit risk management for domestic and international revolving credit products. This includes overseeing acquisition credit policies, account management, and unit economics modeling. The role requires collaboration with various teams to optimize outcomes and maintain a robust reporting framework, ensuring effective risk management and portfolio performance.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in credit risk management or a related quantitative discipline at a fintech or large bank.
  • 15+ years of experience leveraging large, complex data to drive business decisions.
  • Experience with unsecured loans or credit cards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of consumer credit risk trends and fraud risks.
  • Experience with analytical or data management tools such as SAS, SQL, R, Tableau, Python, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize, and drive results with urgency.
  • Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences.
  • Experience leading teams to deliver high productivity output and mentoring junior talent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of credit risk management for domestic and international revolving credit products.
  • Oversee acquisition credit policy including approval/decline processes and line assignments.
  • Manage account strategies such as credit line increases and decreases.
  • Conduct unit economics modeling for revolving credit products using an NPV-based framework.
  • Drive credit-driven marketing programs and collaborate with marketing affiliates.
  • Partner with various teams including Data Science, Fraud, Legal, and Compliance to optimize credit outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain testing frameworks for data optimization across the credit lifecycle.
  • Maintain a reporting framework to detect trends and inform leadership of portfolio performance.
  • Manage the credit portfolio within the return requirements and risk appetite of PayPal and bank partners.
  • Act as the primary Credit Risk contact for revolving portfolios and develop strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Lead and develop a strong analytical team to refine credit policy and strategy.
  • Provide managerial guidance, coaching, and training to the team.
  • Present and defend credit strategies to the chief credit officer and internal partners.
