About The Position

This position is part of the Financial Trading Team and is responsible for driving enterprise natural gas strategy to optimize risk and unlock value across Vistra’s portfolio. The role centers on influencing hedge execution, managing exposure, and translating market conditions into actionable decisions for the broader organization, alongside a targeted proprietary trading component. The position combines individual accountability with cross-functional leadership and is viewed as a key subject matter expert in gas and power markets.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in an energy trading organization
• 5+ years of experience managing a trading book
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
• Thorough understanding of Statistics and Option Theory

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise natural gas strategy to optimize portfolio-wide risk and market positioning
• Monitor and manage fleet-wide exposures across Henry Hub and select pivotal basis locations
• Translate market conditions (fundamentals, curve shape, volatility, positioning) into actionable strategies for generation and load desks that monetize or protect the optionality of the portfolio
• Establish and communicate a consistent enterprise market Point of View
• Influence hedge timing, structure, and risk posture across trading desks
• Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership and align stakeholders such as Commercial, Risk and Planning
• Track adoption and effectiveness of recommendations and continuously refine enterprise strategy
• Manage a targeted proprietary trading book within defined risk parameters to generate risk-adjusted returns
