About The Position

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Systems Test Engineer to test and modify general systems-level software/hardware, specialized utility and/or hardware. The role involves interpreting wireless specifications, designing test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures, and documenting systems-level defects using a bug tracking system. The engineer will identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and document problems with program function, output, or content, and develop testing programs that assess the effectiveness of new systems or modifications of existing systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 10+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 9+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
  • 15+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts staff meetings to solve technical and people problems, quality initiatives, efficiencies, and customer support areas.
  • Provides guidance across teams on prioritization of work tasks.
  • Conducts regular meetings with senior level engineers to determine root causes associated with recurring issues.
  • Leads the design, implementation, testing, and communication of issues associated with high visibility projects.
  • Ensures support and thought leadership regarding systems failure identification.
  • Motivates teams to perform at their best and accept change.
  • Reviews assigned projects and determines necessary analyses and work to meet deadlines.
  • Manages the implementation of a testing plan ensuring test cases address feature functionality.
  • Creates overarching test strategy to direct team work.
  • Checks in with Principals and Senior Staff Engineers to determine project status and assist with barriers.
  • Allocates workload among senior team members considering availability, skill set, and current workload.
  • Develops, coaches, and mentors senior team members.
  • Sets strategic direction for the discipline and communicates it across the organization.
  • Leads discussions about addressing feature requirements and meeting client needs.
  • Advises senior team members on achieving effective job performance.
  • Manages performance of team members through regular meetings.
  • Communicates performance expectations and monitors team performance.
  • Works with high-level representatives from other functions to integrate testing with larger initiatives.
