About The Position

The Sr. Director of Business Ethics and Investigations at Stryker is responsible for leading the Global Compliance Investigations Function and Program. This role is crucial in promoting a culture of integrity and accountability within the organization by ensuring effective investigation and response to ethics and compliance offenses. The position involves overseeing a team that manages internal compliance and business ethics investigations, driving programmatic excellence, and reporting to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of applicable professional experience.
  • Proven experience in establishing investigations processes in a regulated environment.
  • Experience in the medical technology, medical device, or life sciences industry preferred.
  • Prior forensic auditing/accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to apply company policies in complex investigations.
  • Strong integrity and character with strict adherence to confidentiality.
  • Experience with state/federal health care compliance laws.
  • Ability to work within a complex organization and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in formulating strategies and action plans.
  • Focus on developing a culture that fosters teamwork.
  • Must uphold organizational standards and integrity.
  • Legal degree or CPA/CFE certification preferred.

  • Experience working with regulatory agencies (OIG, DOJ, SEC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the global Investigations team conducting internal compliance and business ethics investigations.
  • Lead development of functional strategy, standards, goals, and processes for managing investigations.
  • Chair the global Investigations Oversight Committee and ensure effective oversight and risk awareness.
  • Develop and execute strategies for conducting compliance investigations efficiently and thoroughly.
  • Ensure timely reporting and analysis of investigation matters for key stakeholders.
  • Partner with legal to conduct compliance investigations and collaborate on government investigations.
  • Manage the Ethics Hotline and develop protocols for reporting ethical concerns.
  • Foster a Speak Up culture encouraging employees to report potential violations.
  • Supervise external counsel, auditors, and investigators on internal investigation matters.
  • Identify enhancements needed for the Case Management system for the Global Investigations team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and monitor industry trends and regulatory changes.
  • Advise the Global Compliance & Privacy organization on risk assessment and training efforts.
  • Promote accountability for ethics and integrity within the organization.
  • Propose enhancements to the Program informed by industry trends and best practices.
