Job Description: The Senior Director of Artificial Intelligence will serve as the enterprise leader responsible for defining, owning, and executing Accurate Background’s AI strategy. This role will establish and lead the AI Center of Excellence (COE), partnering across Technology, Engineering, Product, and Business functions to accelerate Accurate’s transformation into an AI-native organization. This individual will be accountable for ensuring the company has the right AI architecture, platforms, governance, and talent to deliver meaningful business outcomes. The Senior Director of AI will focus on driving innovation across Accurate’s background screening platform as well as modernizing Accurate’s operating model through applied AI, automation, and intelligent decisioning. The role is highly collaborative and strategic, working closely with Engineering & Product leadership to embed AI capabilities into core platforms while enabling business teams to responsibly leverage AI at scale. This leader will champion AI innovation, operational excellence, and measurable value creation across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in technology roles, with significant leadership experience driving AI, ML, or data-driven platforms at scale.
  • Proven experience defining and executing enterprise AI strategies aligned to business objectives.
  • Demonstrated success building or leading an AI Center of Excellence or similar cross-functional capability.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI/ML technologies, including machine learning, generative AI, NLP, intelligent automation, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience designing AI architectures and platforms in cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS), including data pipelines, model lifecycle management, and integration into production systems.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Engineering, Product, and business leaders to deliver AI-enabled solutions.
  • Experience operating in regulated environments with strong understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing technical teams.
  • Experience driving organizational change and technology adoption across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Skilled in OKR- or KPI-driven execution with a focus on measurable business impact.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex AI concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic, hands-on, and outcome-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the CIO and own Accurate’s enterprise AI vision, strategy, and execution roadmap.
  • Establish and lead the AI Center of Excellence (COE), defining standards, best practices, governance, and reusable capabilities across the organization.
  • Partner closely with Engineering leadership to define and evolve the AI architecture, platforms, tooling, and technology stack required to deliver on the AI strategy.
  • Collaborate with Product, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Data, and other business functions to identify, prioritize, and deliver AI-driven business outcomes.
  • Drive AI innovation across Accurate’s background screening platform, including intelligent automation, data-driven insights, predictive models, and enhanced customer experiences.
  • Lead the application of AI to Accurate’s internal operating organization, improving efficiency, decision-making, scalability, and time-to-value.
  • Define organizational structures, operating models, and talent strategies that enable scalable and responsible AI adoption.
  • Ensure responsible AI practices, including governance, security, privacy, explainability, and regulatory compliance, are embedded into all AI solutions.
  • Translate business objectives into AI use cases, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes aligned to company strategy.
  • Provide thought leadership and hands-on guidance to engineering teams building and deploying AI-enabled solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to assess feasibility, effort, and value of AI initiatives and investments.
  • Champion continuous learning and AI fluency across technology and business teams.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging AI technologies, and competitive capabilities to ensure Accurate remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Establish success metrics and OKRs for AI initiatives, tracking impact on business performance, quality, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop AI leaders, architects, and practitioners, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
