The ALM & Investment Strategy Team's mission at New York Life is to effectively partner with the business, finance, and asset management teams to research, develop, and implement Investment strategies that help meet business and financial objectives. These goals heavily depend on robust models and data. The Leader of Production Analytics will be responsible for the design, streamlining, implementation, and ongoing operations of all of the production processes to generate investments and ALM analytics. This member of the ALM team will work closely with all the stakeholders across the company to identify and align the data and analytics processes that feed into regular financial and risk reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Actuarial, Investments or Quantitative certifications highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience dealing with multi step reporting processes that integrate insurance assets and liabilities.
  • Strong programming and database skills, including Python.
  • Strong business communication skills and ability to build consensus among technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Thought Leadership.
  • Understanding of the insurance ALM and Investment activities and industry best practices.
  • Strong background in financial engineering and asset modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard models used for analyzing and valuing various structured and non-structured fixed income asset classes.
  • Familiarity with general account (life, annuity and institutional) liabilities and product characteristics.
  • Understanding of financial markets.

Responsibilities

  • Working with key stakeholders across actuarial, finance, and investment functions to meet their specific needs to asset and liability portfolio projections and analytics.
  • Identification of both input and output needed to conduct robust ALM activities and create transparency for stakeholders in finance, investments, risk management, and the businesses.
  • Design and build integration between data and models, with focus on automation, efficiency, and controls of recurring activities.
  • Work on transitioning and automation of all regular processes from the current system into the new ALM Analytics platform (Beacon).
  • Engage in ALM Research and Development, and other Modeling activities in support of the ALM and all related reporting activities.
