THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE: The Sr. Digital Merchandiser for Search will own the end-to-end onsite and in-app search experience, ensuring guests can easily discover products, content, and services through optimized search algorithms, merchandising strategies, and data-driven insights. This role blends strategic vision with hands-on execution to deliver a best-in-class search experience that drives engagement and conversion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • 5+ years of e-commerce merchandising or search optimization experience
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in web analytics tools (Adobe, Google Analytics).
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Excel, Content Management Systems (CMS) and e-commerce tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Partner to define and evolve Ulta's search roadmap aligned to business goals and guest experience priorities.
  • Implement, and optimize onsite search functionalities to improve findability and conversion.
  • Manage synonym dictionaries, boosting, ranking, redirects, and query intent tuning to optimize results.
  • Track and manage KPIs for search, (search revenue per visit, conversion, click-through rate, and exit rate), recommending enhancements (rules, facets, redirects, synonyms).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, UX, and SEO teams to design and A/B test search UI components (auto-suggest, filters, facets, empty state recovery) and improve user intent understanding.
  • Ensure brand launches and key product launches are fully optimized for search visibility and discoverability.
  • Understand category and product-level behaviors to improve relevancy of search results and merchandise effectively.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for poor-performing queries and implement fixes.
  • Lead business validation testing on new capabilities and enhancements in partnership with internal teams and vendors.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, conversational search).
