Responsible for providing nutrition assessments and care planning for patients and resident primarily in the critical care units. Implements business practices in order to uphold hospital mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Minimum 1-year clinical experience
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex, and/or to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question
  • PC Skills and its applicable applications
  • Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian. Certification as required by local state regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Nutrition or related field 2. 2+ years of related or clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Directs dietary care of patients with nutrition needs including screening, assessment and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and patient satisfaction levels are met primarily in the critical care units.
  • Educates medical staff and counsels` patients and their families on proper nutritional care.
  • Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to Hackensack Meridian Health standards and policies.
  • Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets and menu requests.
  • Stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice.
  • Probes potential problems, handles moderately complex issues and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Hackensack Meridian Health policies and procedures (e.g. HIPPA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).
  • Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
