THE ROLE: Xylem is hiring for a Sr. Diesel Technician - $2,500.00 Sign-On Bonus is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, servicing, and repairing pump and support equipment in a safe and efficient manner at customer job sites across Minnesota. Xylem will provide paid training for CDL upgrades (if applicable).
Requirements
- 3-5 years of diesel experience or a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose basic mechanical problems
- Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.
- Basic understanding of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devices
- General DC electric and circuit testing skills
- General diesel engine component location and identification
- Safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self-motivated and self-directed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and managers both verbally and in writing.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues--preferred.
- CDL Class B is considered a plus
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on Godwin fleet equipment between each rental.
- Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems and pump problems.
- Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends.
- Assist customer and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed.
- Assist in the performance of start-up duties and ensure any problems are resolved.
- Perform an initial inspection of Godwin fleet equipment for possible damages; diagnose damages; report damages to Service Manager.
- Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.
- Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment.
- Perform diagnostic checks using computer technology.
- Participate in weekly on-call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
