We are hiring for a Senior Development Engineer - Wheels and Aero who will be based in our Torrance, California facility. The Senior Development Engineer is part of the commercial vehicle (CV) Aerodynamics team and linked to the Wheels and Aerodynamics (W&A) Center of Excellence (COE). This position requires a solid background in turbomachine aerodynamics and mechanical engineering, either from work experience or from education. It also requires a high level of autonomy and problem-solving capability to define technical planning to resolve complex aerodynamic and mechanical problem statements. Responsibilities include: Design, test and qualify the next generation of compressor and turbine aerodynamics for integration in the CV portfolio, using state-of-the-art analytical (CFD/FEA) and experimental (Test Rigs) tools, and this based on the development plan established together with the CV Aerodynamics Manager. Close collaboration with the internal engineering customer teams to design robust compressor and turbine stages that will meet the performance, durability, packaging, noise and cost constraints, and be successfully integrated into customer turbocharger product. Support the resolution of technical problems and performance challenges by providing aerodynamics and mechanical engineering support to other internal teams (application and/or COEs). Collaborate with other team members of the W&A organization to increase innovation while deploying continuous improvement to the team tools and processes.
